BOH EDITEL2009BOH is a top-down shooter with retro graphics and sound, somewhat comparable to Alien Breed.

As a member of the Resistance it is the player's goal to repel an invasion of unknown beings. These beings, ranging from bugs to robots to zombies (and more), will spawn indefinitely until the player finds the "Evil Masters", which have to be defeated to complete the missions. To accomplish this task one can find better weapons, shield recharges, enemy detectors and pieces of equipment, such as automappers, light sources and a 360° visor, which, due to initially limited field of vision and illumination, are essential to navigate the labyrinths which missions take place in. Exploration, indeed, represents the game's core.

Missions are entirely stand-alone, so, except for secret missions not yet unlocked, the player is allowed to select any mission he/she would like to play from the main menu. Some missions are multi-phase, meaning that the player has to complete in strict sequence the phases they are subdivided into. Each mission has a difficulty rating - the higher the difficulty the more complex its labyrinth(s) will be.

A notable aspect of the game is the fact that the setting can be completely redefined by means of themes - at the time of writing, there are 6 themes that render sci-fi/alien, medieval, underground and pseudo-vectorial environments.
